Saint Rose of Lima Academy Academic Curriculum
Recognized as a "Star School" by the Paterson Diocese, Saint Rose of Lima Academy offers academic excellence from Kindergarten to 8th grade with a stimulating and demanding educational curriculum. Our very strong standardized test scores are indicative of our students' academic achievement and our dedication to excellence.
Art, Music, Gym, Computers, Spanish and Library are taught by specialized instructors and complement the core curriculum detailed below for each grade. Our class sizes are kept to a size allowing for ample participation. State-certified teachers, many of whom hold advanced degrees, also provide supervision for activities such as Student Council, academic competitions, monthly liturgies and our extensive After School program.

Kindergarten
We provide a full-day program that emphasizes socialization, academic readiness and creative play. Children receive daily lessons in Phonics, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies and Religion in a self-contained classroom. Weekly lessons in Art, Music, Gym, Computers, Spanish and Library round out the curriculum.
Grades 1 and 2
Students in grades 1 and 2 also receive daily instruction in Phonics, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Religion, Grammar and Penmanship by their teacher. Weekly lessons in Art, Music, Gym, Computers, Spanish and Library continue.
Grades 3 - 5
Grades 3, 4 and 5 begin to receive departmental instruction in such areas as Math, Social Studies and Science. Home Room teachers continue instruction in Language Arts, Reading, Religion, Phonics and Penmanship. Weekly "Specials" continue. Student Council and Academic competitions are introduced in 4th grade. Midterms, Finals and Honor Roll are also introduced in 4th grade.
Grades 6 - 8
Students in grades 6 through 8 receive departmental instruction in Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Creative Expression. Pre-Algebra, Algebra and a well-equipped Science Lab are incorporated. Daily instruction in Reading, Spelling, Religion and Penmanship as well as weekly "Specials" in Computer, Library Sciences, Art, Music, Gym and Spanish.
