The class of 2012 celebrated graduation on Friday, June 8, 2012, with a mass and ceremony in church, followed by a dinner party and dance for the graduates and their families, hosted by the Academy’s seventh grade families. Students in grades 6 and 7 attended the dance as well.
Father Owen Moran, our Pastor, and Ms. Sheila Tomlinson, our Principal, proudly announced the acceptances of the students at local Catholic high schools, academies, and prep schools, with acceptances coming in from The Academy of Saint Elizabeth, DePaul Catholic High School, Immaculate Conception High School, Kent Place, Morris Catholic High School, Mount Saint Dominic, Oratory Preparatory School, Seton Hall Preparatory School, and Villa Walsh Academy.
Students graduated with Honors were also announced, as were numerous awards for service and leadership (not all listed here). Graduated with High Honors (93 and above in all subjects) are Victoria DeTrolio and Priyanka Ray. Priyanka is this year’s Outstanding Scholar. Graduated with Honors (89 and above in all subjects) is Matthew Schum, who received this year’s Mayor’s Award for Citizenship. Matthew, Victoria, and Priyanka, received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence and Jenna McCarthy received the President’s Award for Educational Achievement. Giulia Tino was awarded the American Citizenship Award.
The students’ scholarship awards were also announced. Victoria DeTrolio received a $3,000 per year scholarship from DePaul but has elected to attend Villa Walsh. She was also accepted at Morris Catholic, Academy of St. Elizabeth, and Mount St. Dominic. David Jones was accepted at Morris Catholic, where he will attend. Jenna McCarthy was accepted at Mount St. Dominic, DePaul Catholic and Morris Catholic, and has elected to attend Hanover Park. Connor O’Keefe was accepted at DePaul Catholic, Morris Catholic, and Seton Hall Prep, where he will attend. Priyanka Ray received scholarships from DePaul Catholic of $1,500 per year, Morris Catholic of $1,500 per year, and The Academy of St. Elizabeth of $1,000 per year, and has elected to attend Kent Place. Natalie Ricca was accepted at DePaul Catholic, St. Elizabeth’s, and Morris Catholic, where she will attend. Sabrina Rombola was accepted at DePaul Catholic and has elected to attend Hanover Park. Kevin Roszak was accepted at DePaul Catholic and Morris Catholic and has elected to attend Hanover Park. Matthew Schum was accepted at DePaul Catholic, Morris Catholic with a $1,500 per year scholarship, and Oratory Prep where he will attend on with $3,000 per year scholarship. Ahmir Spruell was accepted at Immaculate Conception and Morris Catholic where he will attend with a $1,500 grant. Giulia Tino was accepted at DePaul Catholic and Morris Catholic, and has elected to attend Hanover Park.
Ms. Tomlinson, Father Owen and the entire Academy family are very proud of the graduates’ achievements, and congratulate each of the students on their acceptances, scholarships, and many awards. We wish our graduates a safe, relaxing summer and a great start to the next step in their educational journey as they proclaim “We’re the “12” of 2012, the spirit of white and blue! Don’t you wish you were 1 – 2”!?!” |
