The 2011-2012 season is underway. Families can use the helpful links below for schedules and directions.
Saint Rose of Lima offers a competitive basketball program for its students in grades 3 through 8 and a cheerleading program for students in grades 3 through 8 in conjunction with the Morris County Catholic Basketball League. The programs offer a setting for sportsmanship and healthy competition while fostering a sense of school spirit that St. Rose has become known for around the League.
It is the goal of the League and Saint Rose of Lima Academy to provide an inter-Catholic school athletic program to as many students as possible. The program offers sport-specific instruction and reinforces the principles of self-esteem building, self-discipline and conscientious sportsmanship by student-athletes, coaches and parents. These programs will strive to develop the skills of all participants and will allow student-athletes the opportunity to have fun while developing physically, emotionally and socially.

Our Athletic Director and Coaches are parent volunteers who have a strong knowledge in the sport, and have complete background checks including fingerprinting (check with school office to schedule your background check, performed by Sterling Direct). Each volunteer working with or around the children must also attend Protecting God’s Children, an informative and required class offered by Virtus through the Paterson Diocese.
The coaches provide sportsmanship awareness and other methods for modeling civil and ethical conduct for the total community of children, parents and spectators which will demonstrate respect for rules, teammates, opponents, officials, and the traditions of the game. Coaches, players, and parents all receive and acknowledge the MCCBL Code of Conduct.
The season ends with an awards ceremony and party for the basketball teams, cheering squad, coaches, parents and their families, organized by our Athletic Director and the school staff.
