Home & School Association

The Home & School Association fosters and strengthens the bond between our school and our families, working side by side with the Principal, Pastor and Faculty to enhance the St. Rose experience, and the Academy’s educational endeavors. It provides a structure within which parents can exercise their role as partners with the Administration, creating a Catholic environment that promotes unity, moral, educational and physical well being of students.

Run by an Executive Board, consisting of parent and guardians, the HSA meets monthly with an agenda that includes fundraising, facilities, finance, marketing and hospitality. Meetings and communication provide a forum allowing the exchange of ideas, information & resources.

With over 38 years of service, the Saint Rose of Lima Home & School Association can look back with pride on recent accomplishments such as the purchase of SMARTboards for classrooms; spectator stands for the gym, additional musical and educational programs for the children as well as other improvements in and around the school campus.

In addition, the HSA sponsors many events such as the annual Tricky Tray – the highlight of our fundraising endeavors; social events such as Family Fun Night and the Brain Show, and children’s events such as book signings, field trips and Santa Story Hour. For a complete list of our activities and fundraisers, see the tab "Fundraisers & Events" above.

Our students and families benefit tremendously from this close and caring relationship between school and home. The activities provide a great opportunity for parents to become acquainted with each other fostering a great sense of community. Volunteering not only models the act of service for our children, but it is lots of fun at the same time!

All parents and guardians who participate in activities with the children are required to take Protecting God’s Children, a course offered locally by Virtus in conjunction with the Paterson Diocese. Also, each volunteer must check with the school office to schedule a background check by Sterling Direct. The safety of our children, and our volunteers, is foremost when any school activity or event is underway.

New this year is our Fathers Club, to provide a unique opportunity for our fathers to be involved in volunteer opportunities, fundraisers, and events for our students and families. Breakfast with Santa at Applebees, Career Day, and the Golf Outing, are a few events organized and run by our Academy's fathers and guardians.
