Career Day, one of our special events this year during Catholic Schools' Week, was a tremendous success. Children in grades 4 through 8 got a rare glimpse into such careers as Doctor (3 doctors - pediatrician, neurological surgeon, and pharmaceutical cardiologist), Chef, Architect, Attorney, Electrical Engineer Chip Designer, Food Industry Sales Executive, Dental Hygienist/Dental Product Sales Specialist, Skating Instructor, and Engineering Sales. Each presenter was a parent from our Academy. The students selected 3 careers and enjoyed a brief presentation followed by a Q&A. Many thanks to the Fathers Club for organizing this exciting and rewarding event.
Home & School Needs YOU!
As one school year comes to an end, another begins. Our H.S.A. board is already busy planning fundraisers and events for the 2012-2013 school year, and they need your help. Some of our key fundraisers or events need a chairperson. Visit our Home & School page on this site for a letter from our outgoing HSA President, and the sign up sheets for the exciting and fun events we've already got cooking. You can sign up for one or as many events as you like and you can even email your choices in to our coordinator!
Hear About Saint Rose
STEM Engineering Project
As part of our ongoing STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) Mr. J. Adam Scribner, Science Professional Development Specialist from Stevens Institute of Technology, was on hand for another STEM project: BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING. Students in their mixed grade groups (6 - 8) were to design a device to remove a blood clot from an artery. Their supplies included a ping pong ball (the blood clot), a paper towel tube (the artery), craft sticks, straws, rubber bands, pipe cleaners, tape and string. A great afternoon of creative thinking!
